Closing Remarks for the 2026 Seoul Marathon and the 96th Dong-A Marathon
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the 40,000 runners who filled the heart of Seoul with their passion and breath.
Marking its 96th anniversary this year, the Seoul Marathon has maintained its status as Korea‘s only World Athletics Platinum Label road race for seven consecutive years, once again proving the prestige of a race recognized as a World Athletics Heritage Plaque. In particular, the inaugural ”Seoul Running Expo,“ held alongside this year’s race, served as a new turning point in expanding the horizons of running culture in Korea.
2026 Seoul Marathon was a true urban festival where world-class elite athletes and 40,000 masters runners came together as one. The passion of runners gathered from all corners of the globe, transcending borders, reaffirmed that the Seoul Marathon has become a premier global marathon coveted by runners worldwide.
We would like to express our deepest appreciation to the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the Seoul Metropolitan Sports Council, the Korea Association of Athletics Federations (KAAF), the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPO) for their unwavering support. We also extend our sincere thanks to our dedicated partners for their committed sponsorship: adidas, KB Financial Group, Samyang, Cass, AceBiome, aminoVITAL, Zamst, Pocari Sweat, and Hanjin.
Above all, it was the generous understanding of Seoul citizens regarding traffic inconveniences and the hard work of our ”Dongma Crew“ volunteers that allowed 40,000 runners to experience the joy of crossing the finish line safely.
Seoul Marathon will now move forward steadfastly toward its glorious 100th anniversary. We promise to prioritize the safety and convenience of our participants as we continue to evolve into a global sports festival that etches the charm of Seoul into the hearts of people around the world.
