"Even if the day comes when I can no longer run, I still want to be part of the Dongma Crew. I know exactly how runners feel—that’s why I want to cheer them on and support them. More than anything, I want to enjoy this festival with them."
This was one of the most memorable testimonials from last year’s Dongma Crew. Could there be a better expression of the crew’s mission: “Runners becoming the strongest supporters of fellow runners”?
On the day before the 2024 Seoul Marathon, the faces of the Dongma Crew were filled with energy and passion as they gathered for pre-race training. Many said it was because they had the chance to support everyone taking on the marathon challenge—friends, family, coworkers, and strangers alike. Most importantly, having experienced the full 42.195km themselves, they knew exactly what kind of support would be needed along the course.
The training site buzzed with enthusiastic discussion. How much water should go in each paper cup? Where’s the best spot on a bib to place the gear-check sticker? What words of encouragement should be shared when handing out medals? Crew members passionately advocated for better solutions based on their own experiences—like supporting actors giving their all to make the lead shine.
Once again in 2025, the Dong-A Marathon is recruiting the Dongma Crew—top-tier supporting cast for the 40,000 runners of the Seoul Marathon. Just like in 2024, the crew will be divided into crew leaders and crew members.
Crew leaders will complete additional training before the event, building in-depth knowledge of race-day operations. Crew members will attend pre-race training the day before and serve on the day of the marathon. Assignments will include gear check, finish-line hydration, medal and snack stations, and course-side water points.
The Dongma Crew, who helps foster a beautiful cycle of support among runners, will also receive a range of perks. These include priority registration for the 2026 Seoul Marathon and exclusive Dongma Crew merchandise. The after-party held in Apgujeong exclusively for crew members after last year’s race will also return—continuing to strengthen the Dongma community.
Many of those who supported runners in the 2024 Seoul Marathon as part of the crew will return in 2025 as runners themselves. Last year’s supporting cast has become this year’s main act.
And this year’s supporters will take the lead in 2026.
Dong-A Marathon dreams of a culture where both "actors"—runners and crew—share the course, breathe in the same moment, and stand side by side in the closing credits of a marathon that is a celebration for all.
